Ava discovered the locked floor by accident.
The elevator had stopped between levels, and when the doors opened, she found an entire floor of Adrian’s building hidden behind a security code.
The lights were off except for one office at the end of the corridor.
Inside was a wall of old photographs.
Adrian as a child. Adrian with a woman who looked like him. Adrian standing beside a girl with bright eyes and a hospital bracelet.
“You should not be here,” he said from behind her.
Ava turned. “Who is she?”
His face went still.
“My sister.”
“What happened?”
Adrian looked at the photo for a long moment.
“She trusted the wrong person.”
